Recycling waste is one way to lower our impact on the physical world which we live in. We must change our consumption habits as the amount of waste we create is on the increase. Ideally we will all consume and waste less. Until then we need to find ways to manage our waste in a more sustainable manner.  

At BRR Technology Solutions we are currently developing a Smart Recycling Bin.  The aim of the project is to increase residents’ awareness of their consumption habits and to become more conscious of the amount of waste they produce.  

Using IoT, the recycling bin will be able to record the amount of recycling collected and send the data to the local authority, such as a local council. Based on the data,  the local authority could provide residents with a reward-scheme to motivate them to separate recyclable materials from their waste, and ultimately, waste less. 

This project is currently used for academic purposes in partnership with an Australian education institute.
